“To qualify for the nursing officers cadre, the candidate must have undertaken: five years of undergraduate studies for the award of B.Sc. Nursing; one-year Post-Graduation Internship; one-year National Youth Service Scheme; and Nursing and Midwifery Council-registered and license to practise.”
The memo indicated that the new nursing cadre would be structured as follows, “Senior Nursing Officer/Senior Nursing Tutor Grade Level 10; Principal Nursing Officer/Principal Nursing Tutor Grade Level 12; Assistant Chief Nursing Officer/Assistant Chief Nursing Tutor Grade Level 13; Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Nursing Tutor Grade Level 14; Assistant Director (Nursing) Grade Level 15; Deputy Director (Nursing)/Director (States) Grade Level 16; Director (Nursing) Grade Level 17.”
When contacted for a reaction on the development, the National President of the Nurses and Midwives Association, Edward Nnachi, promised to get across to our correspondent later.
He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
