Over 2,000 Get Free Medical Check

medical checkThe team of Medical Practitioners and health personnel from the Lagos state Ministry of Healt, provided free medical care to over 2,000 patients some of which presented with High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and other non-communicable diseases, NCDs.
 
Accessing the free health care at the outreach programme put together by the Lagos State Government, Dr. Toluwa Ajomale of the Special Project Unit of Lagos state Ministry of Health, said the purpose of the Eko Health M ission was to bridge the gap between the people living in the city and rural communities. The cost of the threeday programme was bore by the Lagos State Government, he added.

2017 5largeimg26 May 2017 150955740The Guild of Medical Directors (GMD), a body of medical doctors who own and run private hospitals and clinics has advised Nigerians to go for regular screening and vaccination in order to protect themselves from hepatitis.

 
They gave the advise yesterday in a statement signed by the spokesman of the guild, Dr Biodun Ogungbo. The guild said about 20 million Nigerians suffer from viral hepatitis and that the vast majority do not even know that they have the disease.

hapertitisThe Federal Government on Saturday assured Nigerians of its commitment to take proactive steps towards  controlling the spread of  Hepatitis in the country. The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, stated this  during the 24th Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Guild of Medical Directors (GMD)  in Abuja.

The News Agency pf Nigeria reports that the  minister was represented at the occasion by the Director, Hospital Services , Dr Joseph Amedu. The theme of 2017 conference is  ‘ Let Make Nigeria Hepatitis Free’.

vaccineThe Oyo State Government says  it is  targeting 1.5 million  children who are under  five years  as beneficiaries of  Vitamin A supplement during the forthcoming Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Week.

The state Commissioner for Health,  Dr Azeez Adeduntan, made the disclosure on Saturday in Ibadan while giving  an update on the preparation for  the MNCH week. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the MNCH Week holds  between  May 29  and  June 2.

The Federal Government has solicited the support of the states and local governments, other stakeholders as well as the international community in the fight against mosquitoes and clean environment initiative.
 
The Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Usman Jibril sought support for the Federal Government and Andelsta Group malaria control initiative on Wednesday in Abuja, when he re-launched the initiative.
NEWS 2Sokoto – Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, says his administration has concluded plans to send 200 students to India and other countries to study medicine. Tambuwal made the disclosure in Sokoto on Monday night at a media parley to commemorate the 2017 Democracy Day. The governor said majority of those to be sponsored would be girls. “Discussions are in top gear with a university in India to send one hundred youths, mostly women, to study medicine.
 
“This is to shore up the number of women medical doctors in the state, hence, encourage more women to seek medical services in the hospitals. “We are also discussing with other universities across the world, with a view to send another batch of one hundred youths to study various medical professional fields like pharmacy, dentistry, radiography and medical laboratory science, among others.”

Oyo State Commissioner of Health, Dr Azeez Adeduntan at its launch described the Oyo State Family Planning Blueprint as a comprehensive plan to drive the state’s response to family planning and to ensure a reduction in the state’s maternal and infant mortality rates.
