Adeduntan said pregnant women, nursing mothers and children between 0 and 59 months were targeted for free medical services. The medical services, according to him, will include Vitamin A, HIV Screening, malnutrition screening and provision of family planning commodities.
The commissioner said other benefits included birth registration, de-worming tablets for children of 12-59 months as well as provision of Malaria drugs for pregnant women. “Pregnant women and nursing mothers are therefore reminded that this 5-day nutrition and health interventions is free. “This is based on our consultations, we can reliably say that Ramadan does not prevent pregnant women from taking tetanus toxoid vaccines,” he said.
Adeduntan therefore said there should be no excuse for the women and children to be left out of the exercise.
