medical researchMedical laboratory scientists in Nigeria under the umbrella body of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) have pledged their support for the incumbent administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reacting to allegations made by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) that some health workers are being incited against President Buhari, Adeyeye Adetunji Tam, National Public Relations Officer, AMLSN, told HealthNewsNGthat members of AMLSN are not part of any plans to sabotage the Nigerian government. Instead, he said AMLSN is busy repositioning its members for the much needed change the President Buhari administration is poised to bring to the health sector and Nigeria as a whole.

“AMLSN wishes to make it abundantly clear to Nigerians that as an active and responsible member of the health sector, it is neither aware of or a party to any subversive effort to sabotage the present government,” Tam said.

He described NARD’s statement as malicious, self-seeking and divisive. The association challenged NARD to tell Nigerians which health professionals are involved, and who is instigating them against the government.

He said: “It is important to stress that the power tussle and egocentric tendencies the doctors perpetually exhibit on other members of the health team is inadvertently extending and consuming the indigent associations within their ranks. This in-house fighting amongst the younger and the senior doctors has vindicated other health professionals for consistently telling the public who the culprit for the incurable disharmony within the health is.

“AMLSN hereby challenges the NARD to tell the world who is instigating them and other members of the health team to fight the present administration or stop peddling unsubstantiated allegations and head back to their duty posts immediately

“AMLSN wishes to advise the NARD/NMA to settle their in-house fighting in a separate building before infecting other team members with the destructive virus.

“AMLSN believes that while there may be lingering issues bordering on the welfare and career progression of its members, it is ready to allow the present administration time to settle down and address them as earlier promised.”

The association then urged the general public to disregard what it described as a self-seeking posture of the NARD/NMA.

“We also wish to call on all well meaning Nigerians to advise the doctors to sheath their swords and join other members of the health team in assisting the present administration deliver on its promises to Nigerians,” he told HealthNewsNG
