hfn patakes4It is a well-known fact that the private sector in Sub-Saharan Africa, nay Nigeria, is responsible for over 50% of healthcare provision.

This fact testifies to the importance that the private sector in health has garnered due to its contribution to nurturing healthy lives.

This importance is against the backdrop of lower government involvement in the provision and delivery of healthcare coupled with increasingly decreasing revenue accrual to the sector due to low government earnings from oil.

With the background above, a consortium of private sector organizations and the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, under the auspices of the Vice-President of the Federation, put together the Nigeria Infrastructure Public-Private Partnership (NIPPP) Summit. One of the objectives of the Summit is to be able to develop, consult, and publish a roadmap for Health PPPs.

As the umbrella under which private healthcare stakeholders converge, the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria is participating as the Sector Lead for Health. In this capacity, the HFN has gathered erudite experts in healthcare PPPs and related aspects to discuss the issues surrounding the subject of Healthcare PPPs in Nigeria and how they can be bettered.

A Pre- Summit Workshop will run between 1-2 March, 2016. Some of the experts include a Senior Health Specialist with the World Bank Group, Dr. Olumide Okunola, the Executive Director of JNC International Ltd., Mr. Voke Oshevire; Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe, Partner at The Law Crest; Dr. Emmanuel Abolo, Dean of the Rova College for Healthcare Executives.
