The NMA chairman urged the state government to ensure effective recruitment, training and retraining of health workers. According to him, the NMA is ever ready to cooperate with the state government to provide ways of addressing the problems in the sector. Sakajiki commended the state government for improving infrastructure like roads network in the rural communities. He said the infrastructure would assist people from rural areas to access healthcare services.

The NMA chief urged the state government to provide adequate manpower to facilitate development in the healthcare centres across the state. “We want to commend the state government for establishing the Yeriman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau. “It is a giant effort made by the government to improve health care delivery. We, however, appeal to the government to partner with us to improve health care delivery’’, he said.

The State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Sulaiman Gummi, reiterated government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery. Gummi said apart from establishing specialist hospitals in Gusau, the present administration had renovated various general hospitals and rural health care centres across the state. “We are not through yet; the state government is making adequate arrangements for the massive recruitment of health workers in the state as a way of addressing the problem. “I commend the NMA for initiating and introducing various programmes to improve healthcare services. “I assure you that the state government is ready to partner with you to enhance the state’s health sector.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that as part of the activities of the annual event, the association donated consumable items to the inmates of the Gusau Central Prison. It also presented excellence award to the wife of state Governor Asma’u Yari, for organising and sponsoring free medical and surgical outreach to thousands of rural dwellers in the state.
