Some cases of obesity could be due to poor diet and some drugs. People who are obese or overweight should engage in subtle exercises to get themselves back to shape. Fruits and vegetable consumption can also help them in maintaining a normal body mass index. They should also take a lot of water,” Talabi said.
According to a study published in the Public Library of Science, a lower body mass index is consistently associated with reduced type 2 diabetes risk among people with varied family history, genetic risk factors and weight.
As reported by sciencedaily.com, the researchers studied the association between BMI, diabetes, family history and genetic risk factors affecting type II diabetes. They used data on 287,394 unrelated individuals of British ancestry recruited to participate in the UK Biobank from 2006 to 2010 when between the ages of 40 and 69.
Their findings suggest that individuals can reduce their type II diabetes risk through weight loss.
