He urged the new doctors to support medical training in the country by donating through their alumni associations towards assisting the government that had been subsidising the cost of producing doctors.
“As doctors, you won’t be rich, you won’t be poor. You will be comfortable. Don’t abandon the system, government subsidised your training. In the US and UK, training of doctors costs up to $ 50,000 per annum.
“But here, you pay less. Your parents tried, but the government contributed more to your training. Support the university after your training. In the US, those trained used to take a loan and pay back after graduation. That is why many of them cannot leave the country where they train upon graduation,” Sanusi said.
LAUTECH Vice-Chancellor, Michael Ologunde, announced immediate employment as Lecturer II for the best graduating student of the class, Kolawole Rachael, who won six awards.
Ologunde said the institution would continue to produce the best manpower for the country, as parts of its contribution towards securing a better future.
“We strive to produce the best of manpower for the nation’s future; so, we must cultivate the habit of commitment even as we pride ourselves in excellence, integrity, and service,” he said.
