The Chairman of the coalition of eight labour unions, Echeta Chikezie, said they were agitating for their 14 months unpaid salaries.
Chikezie said the state government had in the past appealed to them to forfeit the whole of 2019 salaries and assured them that they would begin to pay them fully from the year 2020, adding “surprisingly, the state government failed to pay July and August salaries”, which he said led to the protest.
