lagos trainsThe Lagos State Health Service Commission says in has commenced a capacity development programme for 2,200 workers across all cadres in the 27 secondary health care facilities of the state towards effective service delivery.

The Permanent Secretary of the commission, Dr Benjamin Eniayewun, said this at the opening of the training at the Lagos Island Maternity Training Centre on Monday, noting that the workshop would span three months to ensure an all-encompassing qualitative medical delivery among health care workers.

He said, “The training is in batches. The management and leadership modules are scheduled for knowledge acquisition of officers on grade levels 15 to 17, where they are acquainted with prerequisite knowledge on skills to prepare them for managerial and leadership roles. This includes training on principles of financial management in health care, marketing in health care, creativity and innovation in health care, as well as the development of analytical competencies to enable them to manage hospital operations effectively. These will also aid conflict management and reduce inter-cadre rivalry.”

He noted that the mid-career cadre on grade levels seven to 14 would be trained in modules on effective patient care.

The permanent secretary explained that the junior cadre on grade levels one to six would be acquainted with “improved technical competencies, skills and safety in the workplace towards high capacity stress management.”
