El-Rufa’i said the administration would tackle all problems in the healthcare sector including the condition of service of workers within the limit of government resources.
Earlier, the WHO Coordinator in the state, Dr Audu Idowu, briefed the governor on the various interventions carried out by the body to stem the spread of polio. Idowu urged the government to meet the funding gap in polio immunisation and adopt innovations to ensure sustainability. He said part of the innovations include the introduction of “checkpoint immunisation” in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Commission.
Idowu disclosed that WHO would support the state administration in the area of disease surveillance, adding that the organisation was receiving weekly reports on disease strain from every local government. According to him, we know which is having an upsurge and what step to take to contain the disease. The coordinator said the new focus would be on prompt data analysis and providing regular feedback in partnership with other stakeholders to engender prompt intervention by government. (NAN)
