The Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) played an active role in this process advocating for a budgeting process that will catalyze private sector involvement and increase incentives for private sector participation Other issues such as the inclusion of 1% of the consolidated revenue to be allotted to the Basic Health Provision Fund in line with the recently passed National Health Act, increase in budgetary allocation to healthcare, improved monitoring and evaluation processes amongst others, were discussed. At the end, a communiqué was developed for dissemination to the Federal Ministry of Health and federal lawmakers.
The program ended with a press conference by the Chairman of Health Reform Foundation of Nigeria, Dr. Ben Anyene; the president of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Kayode Obembe; and the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the HFN, Mr. Remi Adeseun who also doubles as the Program Director of PSN - PACFah.
