healthThe Osun House of Assembly on Wednesday passed the State Primary Health Care Development Board Establishment Bill 2016.

The passage of the bill followed a motion moved by the Leader of the House, Mr Timothy Owoeye, and seconded by Mr Oyeleke Ogunsola, representing Ayedire Constituency.

The bill, which was sponsored by the executive arm of government, was to provide for the establishment of the State Primary Health Care Development Board and for other matters connected with it.

It would be recall that the assembly in November 2015 held a public hearing on the bill. The Speaker of the House, Mr Najeem Salaam, had said the bill would create an enabling environment for the state to develop its primary health care sector and enhance the health status of its citizenry. Salaam, who said that now that the assembly had joined other states to pass the bill, Osun would enjoy the benefit accruable to others.

He urged the government to ensure that the benefits that the state would enjoy from the establishment of the board would impact on the ordinary people of the state. (NAN)
