As at the time our correspondent visited the hospital it was virtually empty from its usual beehives of activities as there were no doctor to attend to patients, apart from some non-medical professionals who were found at their various duty post. Speaking with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Asaba branch chairman, Dr. Nwankwor Obinna, told our correspondent that the issue was being resolved.
He said that the strike had been called off, but for some obvious reasons canvased by the workers work had not resumed. He stated that the strike was occasioned by non-implementation of the full salary adding that salaries of the medical doctors were being reduced without cogent explanation.
