The statement noted that Al-Makura announced the approval when Dr Patrick Dakum, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IHVN paid him a courtesy visit. Mordi added that the visit was to update the governor on control measures put in place by the Institute to halt and reduce HIV burden in the state.
He said Al-Makura had expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between the state and the Institute. Established in 2004 as a local organisation to address HIV and AIDS crisis in Nigeria, IHVN’s responsibilities include the development of infrastructure for treatment, care, prevention and support for people living with and those affected with HIV/AIDS.
It had, however, expanded to take care of other infectious diseases such as TB, malaria and cancer.
