The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has called for the removal of the health sector from the concurrent list to address the welfare challenges of medical practitioners and workers in the sector.
Chairman, Kwara State chapter of the organisation, Dr Abubakar Ayinla, made the call while speaking at a press conference in llorin, to mark the commencement of the 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association.
He said if the health sector was removed from the concurrent list, it would ensure that the federal government took ultimate decision as it affected the sector. Ayinla said the sector should be included in the exclusive list, adding that it would facilitate the formation of a central body that would ensure implementation.
