health careThe partnership between Bauchi state government and the World Health Organisation (WHO) has helped towards providing qualitative and affordable healthcare delivery in the state.

This was disclosed by the State Director, Planning, Research and Statistics in the state’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Daiyabu Hassan at the opening of a five-day workshop organized by WHO for top government officials in the ministry.

He said the training workshop will also help the ministry make informed decision of where to deploy and re-deploy to be able to address universal coverage of health facilities. The director added that since the assumption of office of the present state's commissioner of health, she has been working round the clock to address the challenges facing the health sector including the welfare and equal distribution of health workers to all health facilities in the state.

Dr. Hassan stressed that her effort is in-line with the governor’s five-point health agenda which was designed to address issues facing the health sector in the state. He commended the state governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar for making healthcare delivery one of his administration’s priorities as well as committing 16 percent of the 2016 budget to the health sector. He therefore call on health workers in the state to reciprocate the gesture of the administration by rededicating themselves in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The training was a tool developed by WHO to help the state plan and deploy their health workers to offer better and equitable services especially on services such as malaria, maternal and newborn health, HIV/Aids etc.
