The founder and executive director, Dr Uchenna Onwufor, said the exercise was in furtherance of its Cancer Prevention Campaign aimed at reducing the incidence of these preventable cancers through education, early detection and treatment.
According to Onwufor, the one week- long event which will commence on Mon 6th Feb will involve awareness creation in secondary schools about HPV, free Hepatitis screening in NYSC camp, climaxing in free screening for members of the public at the NGO’s headquarters on Sat 11th Feb.
Also, the chairman BOT, Gynae Care Research and Cancer Foundation, Chief (Dr) Darlington Agha, noted that the NGO is poised to take cancer awareness and screening to the nook and crannies of Nigeria to help protect vulnerable women.
He called on the federal government to encourage NGO’s to create awareness and offer free screening particularly for indigent citizens.
