In a chat with a staff of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) who is also a nurse, she said consultant doctors are presently on duty attending to patients and that nurses are busying working.
Our correspondent observed patients have besieged private hospitals like Ahmadiyya, Longing, Ore-Ofe hospitals amongst others. Patients who also spoke at separate interviews appealed to the federal government to as a matter of urgency end the strike, saying treatment in the government owned hospital are cheaper compared to private hospitals.
The doctors had embarked on industrial action demanding the full implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and downward review of their taxes, among other issues.
