FG releases N3.5bn for vaccination

2017 10largeimg19 Oct 2017 195229014The Federal Government has released N3.5 billion for vaccination in 2017, the spokesman of the vice president, Laolu Akande, disclosed on Thursday.

Akande disclosed this to State House correspondents after a meeting of the National Economic Council. The vaccination was against such communicable diseases as polio, measles, diphtheria, influenza, hepatitis B, pneumococcus and rotavirus.
 
The Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III who briefed the NEC on polio eradication said his presence indicated the commitment of the traditional institution in Nigeria to polio eradication.

The council, which commended the Sultan for his commitment, noted that Nigeria was making good progress in polio eradication and routine immunization. The council, however, urged states to honour their counterpart funds for the immunisation programme.

The NEC also set up a committee whose membership comprises the governors of Kwara, Kaduna, Abia, Ogun, Edo and Adamawa States to work on industrialisation process. The committee is to monitor the implementation of the recommendations to address the eight key issues including improving broadband penetration in the country, resolving multiple taxation, facilitating access to land, providing security for investments and standardizing regulatory requirements.
