He said, “Successful implementation of this project would ensure improvement and sustainability of high quality clinical and diagnostics services, improvement in learning and research facilities across all the 22 teaching hospitals. “It would allow the government to use saved funds and additional revenue to strengthen primary medical care across the country and reduction in medical tourism.
“It has been estimated that Nigerians spend about $1bn on medical treatment outside the shores of Nigeria annually. The Teaching Hospitals PPP/Concession project would ensure that this trend stops. “It would also reduce incessant strikes by the medical and paramedical staff of these hospitals due to obsolete equipment,” he added.
