Nurses seek necessary equipment in health facilities

nurses seekThe Chairman, Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Ekiti State Chapter, Mr Kayode Fatomiluyi, has appealed to governments to protect nurses through provision of necessary modern equipment at the health facilities in the state.

Fatomiluyi, who said this, would enhance the nation’s health care delivery system, also called on governments to prioritise the welfare of the nurses and midwives as incentive for them to discharge their duties more efficiently and effectively.

The nurses’ boss, who spoke in Ado Ekiti, on the occasion of the World Health Day, however, charged his members to be diligent and work in line with the ethics of the profession, assuring them that the association would continue to agitate for their welfare.

He appealed to Nigerians to obey the stay-at-home order declared by governments and as well follow all precautions that would protect them and others against the deadly coronavirus which had continued to ravage the world.

Fatomiluyi, who advised members of the public to pay more attention to their health needs and take necessary precautions against diseases, said, “Most health complications are as a result of carelessness and nonchalant attitude of patients.

“Every ailment is manageable if detected early and handled by professionals. The nurse cautioned people against self medication, drug abuse, excessive alcohol, smoking and other activities injurious to their health as he advised that “Nigerians must develop the habit of eating balanced diet, fruits, water and maintain hygienic environment.”
