Signs of a stroke:
Stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or reduced, leading to the death of brain cells. Early recognition of the signs and symptoms of stroke is critical, as prompt medical attention can minimize the damage and improve the chances of recovery.

He further elaborated common signs of stroke to watch out for:
1. Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
2. Sudden confusion or trouble speaking or understanding speech
3. Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
4. Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or coordination
5. Sudden severe headache with no known cause.

"The clot busting drug (thrombolytics - tPA), has always been available for use in stroke patients in developed countries. What was lacking in Nigeria was the commitment to set up the multidisciplinary team and technology in a well organized 'Acute Stroke Center'
tPA can be associated with a high risk of bleeding and bad outcome if used improperly". This was from Dr Anyanwu of the Region Stroke Neuroscience Hospital Owerri. He said further: "What FCC has done is to connect all the dots and put all the players together, to ensure good outcome. The 'Acute Stroke Center' at FCC has the necessary expertise, equipment, technology and post intervention units, including it’s ICU, Stroke Unit and trained stroke nurses, making it a perfect place for acute stroke intervention. As a US trained stroke neurologist who is part of the FCC team, I am happy that FCC have made the necessary investment to put this multidisciplinary team together"

Dr Pamela Ajayi, the President of the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria (HFN) commented "We need more collaborations like this!" While Dr Wale Alabi remarked "A fantastic telemedicine model leveraging local capacity"
