He appealed for a change of attitude to work and more commitment to their statutory duties warning that if there was no appreciable change sanctions would be the appropriate option.
The commissioner added that the state government has stepped up measures to make the hospitals and other health facilities in the state functional and give optimal services to the people. He said the government has embarked on the construction four residential quarters for doctors with utilities like bore holes, and electricity adding that the quarters are located at Okeikpe, Arochukwu, Ikwuano, and Obingwa local government areas.
Dr Ahukanna said that it has become necessary to rekindle the confidence of the Abia residents in the government hospitals through the provision of enough qualified medical staff and equipment. He added that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the employment of specialized health workers including Doctors, Pharmacists nurses laboratory Scientists to ensure that the health care delivery in the state was standardized,.
