The THISDAY HEALTH POLICY DIALOGUE SERIES was co-created in partnership with the World Bank Group to bring to the fore key policy issues in the health sector. Following a successful inaugural edition in March 2018 which featured Nigerian born Director of Health Nutrition Population at the World Bank Group in DC – Dr Soji Adeyi, the second edition had as guest speaker the WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus.The attention and the media coverage of the previous editions certainly played a part in the successful advocacy towards the appropriation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund in the 2018 budget by the National Assembly. The National Assembly appropriated 55 B Naira for the BHCPF for the first time since the National Health Act was signed in 2014
This edition will focus on the performance of state governments and we will like you to give a perspective on how state governments will need to partner with the private sector in other to improve health outcomes. We have confirmed the participation of H.E Vice President and all the winning state governors.
