index 3Doctors on Call Health Support Initiative has launched an electronic medical application to fast-track emergency services in the country.

Speaking during the launch of the application yesterday in Abuja, Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Dr Adejobi Adeloye said the application called Amba is the country’s first emergency coordinating system aimed at reducing maternal mortality, reducing downtime in ambulance and fire services response, and improving emergency response gap.

He said about 2 million people representing 1% of the population are being targeted, for now, adding that with appropriate referral services it will grow to 100%.

He said, “Emergencies strike without warning, and we are trying to prevent situations where people don’t know what to do or not being able to get access to a response vehicle.

So the application works on a mobile technology platform; it sends the details of the person coming to see you, the details of the ambulance or taxi driver, and the details of the airport's shuttle and first responder coming to see you, among others.”
