DR. LEKE PITAN, FORMER COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH, LAGOS STATE

Dr. Leke Pitan, former Commissioner for Health in Lagos State between 1999 and 2006, is a seasoned public health practitioner and a consummate administrator known for pioneering key public-private initiatives in the state health sector while on the saddle. He is a member of the Forum on Evidence-Based Health Policy-Making of the Nigerian Academy o f Science. He is Chairman of the Project Advisory Committee of the Ford Foundation’s Health Journalists’ Immersion Programme on Maternal, Child and Newborn Health. He is also the Executive Director of Pitman UK Training Centre in Nigeria. Dr. Pitan has garnered many awards and recognition for his countless contributions to the development of the health sector of the nation. He brings his wealth of experience to enrich the discussion about how equipment leasing can be harnessed as a means of healthcare financing.

DR NKATA CHUKU- HEALTHCARE LEAD, KPMG WEST AFRICA

Nkata is a medical doctor with an M.Sc in Health Policy and Financing from London School of Economics and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has extensive health systems and monitoring and evaluation experience gained from working with government and private sector organisations. He worked with FHI 360 Nigeria for over 4 years and held several senior positions that include Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor, Associate Director Programme management, Associate Director Health Financing and Services Management and Director Health Systems Strengthening for the USAID/PEPFAR funded $418 million GHAIN project, Global Round 5 HIV/AIDS, Global Fund Round 8 Health Systems Strengthening and Global Fund Round 8 Malaria Grants. He has served in many ministerial committees including the Ministerial Health Financing Committee 2006 – 2007; Ministerial HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria Task Force 2008 -2009; and Health Systems Forum 2009 – 2012. He played a key role in developing the National Health Financing Policy; the health components for the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS) the National HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan and National Strategic Health Development Plan (NSHDP) and several Country Global Fund Proposals. He has recently been commended for anchoring the Presidential Summit on Universal Health Coverage.

DR. CHELUCHI ONYEMELUKWE-ONUOBIA, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR HEALTH ETHICS, LAW, AND DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Onyemelukwe Onuobia has an expertise in in Health Law, Ethics and Policy, and in Governance and Regulation. She holds a doctorate degree in law, specialising in Health Law, Ethics, and Policy from Dalhousie University, Canada. She has a First Class degree in law from the University of Nigeria. Cheluchi has practised law in a top law firm in Nigeria, developed policy and regulation within government, conducted research in health law, ethics and policy, and helped draft health legislation and regulations, and consulted for different international development organisations. Most recently, she has taught Health Law and Policy at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University.  Cheluchi is involved in several health promotion activities, including serving on the board of Sharing in Health, an organisation that is established to provide medical literature freely online to medical students in developing countries. She is passionate about improving health outcomes in Nigeria and other developing countries, using both law/policy instruments and through engaging practically with existing health challenges.

ANDREW EFURHIEVWE – EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

He is a lawyer and Associate member, Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, London. He implements the Board policies and responsible for the day-to-day running of the Secretariat. He joined the Association in 1993 and has served in various capacities. Mr Efurhievwe was instrumental to the re-structuring of the Secretariat including its legal status in 1994 and was a key member of the team that initiated and drafted the proposed leasing law. He has considerable understanding of the leasing industry and he is part of ELAN training faculty.

CHUKA ONWUCHEKWA, CHAIRMAN, EQUIPMENT LEASING ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (ELAN)

Mr Chuka Onwuchekwa is the Chairman of the Board of Directors, ELAN. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Agric (Animal Science) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, MSc. Agric Economics and MBA, Finance from University of Lagos. He was the best MSc. graduating student in the faculty of Agriculture in 1988 as well as the best graduating student of the department of Animal Science in 1985. He had worked in various capacities such as Rims Merchant Bank Ltd (Credit and  Marketing); Merchant Bank of Africa (Nig.) Ltd. (Corporate Finance Division); City Savings & Investment Bank Ltd. Namibia (Manager & Head Corporate Banking); Continental Trust Bank – (now UBA Plc), (Assistant General Manager/Head Investment Banking Group);  Continental Trust Bank Ltd (Deputy General Manager/Head, Banking Services Group); Continental Trust Bank Ltd (Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer) and Corporate Remedies Ltd (Managing Director/CEO). He is currently the Managing Director/CEO Aquila Leasing Limited. Also serving on the board of Corporate Remedies Ltd and Monane Ventures Ltd.

CLARE OMATSEYE, PRESIDENT, HEALTHCARE FEDERATION OF NIGERIA (HFN)

Clare Omatseye is the MD/CEO JNC International and President, Healthcare Federation of Nigeria- HFN. Claire is a Graduate of Pharmacy from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and holds an MBA from the University of Navarra -Barcelona Spain. She is an Alumnus of the Lagos Business School and has attended several professional trainings in her field. A seasoned pharmacist with over 23 years of experience in hospital pharmacy, sales, marketing, regulatory affairs, distribution, business development and strategic management, she has worked in several blue chips pharmaceuticals. She currently sits on the board of other reputable organizations. She has served on different ministerial committees where she has contributed immensely to the development of robust health policies with significant impact on health outcomes

DR OLUMIDE OKUNOLA, SENIOR HEALTH SPECIALIST, INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CORPORATION (IFC)

Dr. Okunola is a consultant with the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) where he puts his multidisciplinary training in public health, health economics and financing, and programme management into generating relevant decisions and policies for governments and agencies. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the University of Oxford.

VOKE OSHEVIRE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, JNC INTERNATIONAL LTD.

Voke currently serves as the Executive Director of JNC International Limited, a turnkey medical equipment solutions company representing an impressive list of international manufacturers of leading Medical Technology brands that are providers of global technology. Voke is admired for his extensive industry knowledge which will form part of a relevant panel discussion.

PHARM. ‘GBENGA FALABI, NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, ASSOCIATION OF INDUSTRIAL PHARMACISTS OF NIGERIA (NAIP)

'Gbenga Falabi is a registered pharmacist in Nigeria of 24 years pharmaceutical industrial practice in varying but progressive positions in sales, marketing and strategy, culminating in occupying the seat of a General Manager , at Greenlife Pharmaceuticals Ltd. He currently serves as the national Chairman of the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), which makes him a council member of PSN and Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Industry Practitioners Association of Nigeria (PIPAN) which is the umbrella body that unifies all the five (5) trade associations in the Nigerian Pharma sector. Gbenga has to his credit three blockbusters he successfully nurtured from launch as a master strategist into this market. He is currently leading the Pharma industry war against drug counterfeiters, and very much concerned with alternate and innovative ways to grow the sector thereby helping to achieve better health outcomes.

MR. ROOSEVELT OGBONNA, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, COMMERCIAL BANK, ACCESS BANK

Mr. Roosevelt Ogbonna is Executive Director, Commercial Banking. Until this appointment, he was the Divisional Head, Commercial Banking. Under his leadership, the Bank's commercial banking franchise has experienced impressive improvement in performance. Mr. Ogbonna joined the Bank in 2002 from Guaranty Trust Bank. He has very deep technical, business development and strong leadership skills and has successfully led the execution of several transformational projects across the Bank.

Mr. Ogbonna is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and holds a Second Class Upper Degree in Banking and Finance from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He has attended several Executive Management Development Programmes in leading institutions.

CHIDINMA LAWANSON, HEAD, MSME & AGENCY BANKING, DIAMOND BANK

Chidinma Lawanson holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from University of Calabar & Obafemi Awolowo University, both in Nigeria. She started her career in 1991, working at non-bank financial services institutions prior to joining Diamond Bank Plc, in 1994 where she gained work experience in Operations and Business Development, rising to the levels of Business Manager, Adeola Hopewell branch (the bank’s flag-ship branch) and Group Head, Victoria Island Region.

In 2008, she earned a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, a Fulbright Scholarship Program in the U.S.A and a Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurial Management from Boston University, Massachusetts. She also had work experience at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston. In June 2009, Diamond Bank appointed Chidinma as the Head of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) where she formed partnerships between Diamond Bank and international agencies (IFC, USAID and Women’s World Banking) in terms of product creation. In February 2012, Chidinma was appointed as Diamond Bank’s Head of Human Capital Management with responsibilities covering the bank’s locations in Nigeria (with over 4,600 full time employees and 260 branches), Francophone West Africa and the U.K.  In September, 2015, Chidinma was appointed by Diamond Bank as the Head, MSME & Agency Banking, to serve the entrepreneurs and the under-banked.

She brings her vast knowledge and experience to enrich the discourse on how Equipment Leasing can be harnessed to further the sustainability of healthcare institutions in Nigeria.

DR. UMAR OLUWOLE SANDA, PRESIDENT, HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HCPAN)

Dr Umar Oluwole Sanda qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Benin in August, 1978. He has held many leadership positions in different Medical Associations since his undergraduate days, a veritable attestation to his leadership acumen and managerial candor.

He was the Finance Secretary of the University of Benin Medical Association 1975/76 session; Member, Association of Resident Doctor LUTH; and representative of Resident Doctors’ on LUTH Housing Committee;  Financial Secretary NMA Lagos State 1984; Chairman Lagos Island AGPMPN from 2002-2007; General Secretary AGPMPN Lagos State branch 2008-2012; National Executive member AGPMPN 2008-2012; Chairman Many Committee of AGPMPN; LOC Secretary for AGM/International Scientific Conference of AGPMPN 2010 and 2012.

He started Lagos Island Community Health Insurance scheme in conjunction with Healthcare International in 2012.  He is presently National President of Healthcare Providers’ Association Of Nigeria (HCPAN).
